Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Three women allegedly attempted to set themselves on fire outside Gate No. ‘E’ of the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday morning but were stopped in time by police. The incident unfolded quickly when the women arrived at the gate, and one of them poured kerosene on herself.
According to police, the women have been identified as Purnima Haldar, Sutishna Sampui, and Bandana Naskar, all residents of Bishnupur in South 24 Parganas. Officers on duty acted immediately, detaining them before they could ignite the fuel.
The trio was taken to SSKM Hospital for first aid and later brought in for questioning. Police are investigating the motive behind their actions and how they managed to carry kerosene to the high-security area.
Officials say initial inquiries suggest the women may have been protesting over a personal or local grievance, but the exact reason will be confirmed after further investigation.
